Surely you’ve heard of the health benefits of bone broth by now, yes?

If not, that’s ok. I’ve got you covered right here!

Bone broth has so many wonderful health benefits. Remember how, when you were a child, your parents or grandparents always made you a bowl of chicken noodle soup if you were sick?

That’s because people have known about the benefits of bone broth for a very long time now. And, it turns out, mom and grandma knew best.

Bone broth is high in minerals from the bones of the animal it was made from, and your body can absorb those minerals easily. And, it’s also high in compounds like collagen, which is found in the connective tissues of animals. Collagen is a powerful healing compound.

The benefits of bone broth are plenty, but here are a few of the reasons I love it:

  • Healing for the body, specifically for the digestive tract
  • Boosts the immune system, especially if taken during a cold or the flu
  • Reduces inflammation in the body
  • Helps maintain healthy skin

Drinking bone broth regularly is one of the best things you can do to support healthy digestion, which is one reason why I drink it daily. It absolutely helps to soothe any digestive symptoms if I’m experiencing them. I drink it right out of a glass mason jar.

Homemade chicken broth is also the very first thing I reach for if anyone in our home comes down with a cold, the flu, or any tummy illness.

And, I use my homemade broth every Soup Sunday, which is when I make a big pot of soup for my family and I to eat in the upcoming week.

I always have a batch of frozen homemade chicken broth in my freezer.

The canned bone broth on most grocer’s shelves aren’t the same quality as homemade bone broth, and chances are they’re going to be loaded with MSG which is a nasty additive that I try to steer clear of.

Bone broth is becoming quite trendy, and good quality ones can already be found in the refrigerator section of most health food stores. But, they are quite pricey. I actually price shopped one respected brand the other day, and it was a whopping $7 bucks for not quite 2 full cups of chicken broth.

The good news is that it’s SO EASY to make your own. A little time consuming yes, but once you start it, you don’t really have to do much to it besides let it simmer for as long as possible.

I’ve created a video tutorial for you that will walk you through the exact steps I use when making a batch of homemade chicken broth. (Watch it below.) I’ll talk you from start to finish, and even show you how I put my homemade broth up in the freezer where it keeps for about 3 months.

Note: I do recommend using animals that are pasture-fed, and free of antibiotics and hormones, if possible.
