I was recently asked by a reader on my Facebook page to write a post about traveling with children and some ideas for how to get kids to eat healthy while away from home. My advice for eating healthy while traveling with children is to try as much as possible to stay on the same schedule that you follow at home. Breakfast, mid-morning snack if needed, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. I ran across this quote recently, and liked it so much I posted it on my Facebook wall: “When you see the words Fat-free or Low-fat, think of the words Chemicalized Shit Storm.” Pardon the language, but this is completely true, and worth talking about. Years ago, in the 90’s, we were told and made to believe that fat-free and low-fat were the way to go in order to lose weight.
